Summary:
The Lion and the Mouse written and illustrated by Jerry Pickney is the winner of the 2010 Cadecott Medal. This wordless children book is based on one of Aesopś most famous fables where the ferocious lion plans to eat the shy little mouse when it awoke him from his nap. The lion has a change of heart and lets the mouse go. Later the lion gets into trouble when it is caught in a trap, and it is the little mouse that comes to the lions rescue.
Through Pickney´s stunning illustrations of the African savannah backdrop, the reader is able to use their imagination and infer how the lion and the mouse develop and unlikely friendship.
